◾️Kyoto-Exclusive! Spotlight on the "Kuro-mame & Matcha" Cornet
▲Right: Kyoto-exclusive Cornet (Kuro-mame & Matcha) ¥486 / Left: The ever-popular signature Cornet (Chocolat) ¥464
First, let me introduce the items you can only get here in Kyoto.
The first is the "Chocolatier's Sandwich" (¥561 each) — a triangular sandwich elevated with GODIVA's chocolatier touch. Think salted caramel mousse, dark chocolate ganache, and a matcha mousse bursting with the bitterness and aroma of Uji matcha, all sandwiched between simple triangle bread or cacao bread.
There's also "Kyō no Sand" — a Belgian-style round roll called a pistole, made with cacao dough and filled with ham and cheese — as well as a "Cacao, Ume & Gyūhi Mochi Cream Bread" accented with shiso-ume paste and chopped green plum. All of these are available exclusively at the Kyoto store.
But the one I was really here for is the Kyoto-exclusive flavor of the signature "Cornet": the Cornet (Kuro-mame & Matcha).

The Kuro-mame & Matcha Cornet features a chewy brioche dough paired with a rich, gently sweet black soybean cream that fills your mouth with every bite. Nestled inside are whole, fluffy-soft black soybeans and a hidden matcha white chocolate bar that adds a fragrant sweetness — making the texture just as enjoyable as the flavor.
◾️Must-Know Before You Visit!
One important heads-up: you currently can't just walk in. You'll need to obtain a timed-entry ticket through the official GODIVA LINE account, which opens for your desired date starting at 9:00 p.m. the night before. Tickets are issued in 30-minute slots from 11:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with around 20 people admitted per slot. Be sure to check the official website for full details before heading out.
▲My haul of 5 items for the day. Even the wrapping paper illustrations are adorable. And yes — the second bread from the right is actually a curry bread!
Each customer can purchase up to 5 items total (with a 2-item limit on exclusive products), so think ahead about what you want to buy. Depending on your time slot, some items may already be sold out by the time you arrive — just something to keep in mind.
▲Seasonal menu items are also available. The Kyoto location stands out for its wide variety of exclusive offerings.
It's been several months since opening, and scoring a timed-entry ticket has gotten noticeably easier than it was at first. I've visited three times now, and I still haven't managed to snag the Chocolatier's Sandwich — but I'll keep making the trip, and I'm looking forward to whatever the seasonal menu brings next.
