The Buzz-Worthy Bakery That Just Hit Kyoto, Japan's Bread Capital — What's in GODIVA Bakery Godipan's Kyoto-Exclusive Lineup?

On December 10, 2025, GODIVA Bakery Godipan Kyoto Shijo — the fourth location of luxury chocolate brand GODIVA's bakery concept, following shops in Tokyo (Yurakucho and Ikebukuro) and Nagoya — officially opened its doors. I've been hopelessly addicted to the Chocolat Cornet ever since the very first Yurakucho location debuted, so when Godipan came to Kyoto — my second home — I was absolutely thrilled. On top of that, I heard the store carries Kyoto-exclusive breads built around the theme of "deaimono (encounters)" — local Kyoto ingredients brought together in the spirit of "neighborhood bakery meets GODIVA." I had to see for myself how this concept stacks up in a city famously packed with outstanding bread shops, so let me give you the full scoop.

The Kyoto Shijo location is both the first shop in the Kansai region and the brand's first street-level standalone store. Its location couldn't be better — sitting right at the entrance of Nishiki Market, known as "Kyoto's Kitchen," where tourists and locals mingle all day long.

Beneath the awning — a nod to the classic neighborhood bakery — you'll find illustrations of Godipan's chefs alongside the people who work at Nishiki Market, giving the storefront a distinctly Kyoto kind of excitement.
